Steven M. Sousa, executive vice president and chief operating officer of MutualOne Bank and a MutualOne Charitable Foundation trustee, recently announced the Foundation’s award of $2,500 to support the Read to a Child program at the Brophy and Woodrow Wilson elementary schools in Framingham.
The lunchtime reading program in the two schools serves 95 students in grades one through four who are struggling with literacy. Adult volunteer mentors share one-on-one time with the students, instilling in them a love of reading and a love of learning.
“The Foundation award will allow Read to a Child to provide updated books and materials for the growing lunchtime reading program,” said Sousa. “We are pleased to help increase the success of these children in reading, and in life, through this program.”
